Firestone

Since the previous century, Firestone Tire and Rubber Company has provided high quality car, truck, and SUV tires all around the United States. Since their beginning (and still now as a subsidiary of the Bridgestone Corporation), they have been pioneers, first in the mass production of tires, and now by continuing to improve and innovate. Whether the tires are for racecars or for commercial vehicles, Firestone is a brand that continues to prove why it has remained a household name for over a hundred years. Wichita Tire Dealer>>

Company History

Tires Available in an hour Firestone can trace its history back to one man: Harvey Samuel Firestone. In the late 19th century, Harvey Firestone worked for the Columbus Buggy Company, producing rubber wheels. Harvey Samuel Firestone took part in a horse race in the late 19th century, and his buggy which he had equipped with rubber tires managed to outshine the others in performance. As time went on, Firestone saw potential in a thriving automobile market, and decided to found a company to create tires for cars called the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company in 1900.

When Firestone began in Akron, Ohio, it had only twelve employees to its name, but they carved out a spot for themselves in 20th century. In 1906, Ford’s Model T was equipped with Firestone tires, and by 1909, Firestone made an industry standard out of the non-skid tread pattern. By 1927, Firestone’s business had become such a success, they needed more factories, so Firestone and his friend/business partner Henry Ford went to California and found the perfect location. One year after establishing their factory in this spot, it had doubled in size. When World War II broke out, Firestone Tire and Rubber Company did its part to help out in the war effort by manufacturing artillery shells, aluminum kegs, and helmet liners.

Since these early days of business, Firestone Tire and Rubber Company has continued to grow. What began with twelve employees back in the 20th century is now an industry giant with over 40,000 employees and an average revenue of over two billion dollars. Firestone is a time-proven brand, and one that is going to stay around for a long time.

Firestone Tire Reviews

Firestone tires are high-quality, affordable, and diverse so it is possible to find a tire useful for any condition the roads and weather can cause. Throughout the years, Firestone tires have won numerous awards from the FFA, Top of Mind Rural Awards, and was even the first United States based tire manufacturer to be granted the Iowa Recognition for Performance Excellence Silver Award. On the internet, Firestone’s tires are received favorable by consumers; 1010Tires.com gives Firestone tires an overall rating of 4.6 out of 5.

Firestone Race Tire

In the 1911 International 500-Mile Sweepstakes Race, the winning car was equipped with Firestone tires. Since then, between 1920 and 1966, cars using Firestone tires have always come out as the victors at the finish line. In the Indianapolis 500, over sixty drivers have won thanks to Firestone tires. Seeing as their tires are designed in different ways to fit different needs, from high-tread life, to off road, to fuel efficiency, to good handling in unfavorable weather conditions, it is no surprise that Firestone tires have such a reputation for bringing racecar drivers victory. If the tires can withstand the racetrack, then they can withstand whatever a car, truck, or SUV must go through on any commute. Tyres Wichita>>
